My son, age 3, had been diagnosed by his speech therapist as having oral apraxia. What information do you have on the documentary?
Hi Jennifer,
Oral apraxia appears to be pretty rare and it’s a specific type of oral motor dysfunction. In other words, oral apraxia is an oral motor dysfunction but not all oral motor dysfunction is oral apraxia. Does your child fit the symptoms on this page http://pursuitofresearch.org/2017/02/03/why-more-should-know-what-oral-apraxia-is/
if apraxia is diagnosed or suspected it’s recommended to take him to either a pediatric neurologist or developmental pediatrician to confirm or rule out soft signs https://pursuitofresearch.org/2014/07/29/parent-friendly-soft-signs/

I have 4 year old twins who are BOTH diagnosed with apraxia of speech.
Melodie how are things going with therapy for the twins at home and in school through the IEP? This page may help https://pursuitofresearch.org/2013/03/22/speech-therapy-matrix/ And this one too for more therapy https://pursuitofresearch.org/2016/05/31/5-ways-to-get-free-or-affordable-speech-therapy/ Once apraxia is suspected or diagnosed it’s also important to take him now to either a pediatric neurologist or developmental pediatrician to confirm or rule out soft signs in the body -apraxia today is rarely just a motor planning impairment (there is typically weakness and/or sensory issues going on as well) and rarely just a speech issue -it’s typically global today https://pursuitofresearch.org/2014/07/29/parent-friendly-soft-signs/
